Do I need a school email?

No. Any Google account works. Remindify is designed for students at any school, whether you use a personal or school email.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Remindify is fully responsive and works great on mobile browsers. You can access all features from your phone, tablet, or computer.

You'll get push notifications 24 hours before deadlines, plus study nudges to keep you on track. Just enable notifications when prompted.

Remindify is a student AI assistant that helps you stay organized and study smarter. We care about your privacy and want to be completely transparent about how your data is handled. This policy is written in plain English so you can understand exactly how your information is handled.

1. What Remindify Is

Remindify is an AI-powered study assistant built for students. It helps you:

Track assignments and upcoming deadlines
Generate flashcards, summaries, and quizzes from your study materials
Chat with an AI tutor about your coursework
Get push notification reminders so you never miss a due date
Organize study materials across all your classes

It's a tool to help you study smarter — not a replacement for doing the work yourself.

2. What Data We Collect

We only collect what we need to make Remindify work. Here's the full list:

Google account info: Your name, email address, and profile picture from Google Sign-In. We never see or store your Google password.
Classes and assignments: Course names, teacher names, schedules, assignment details, and due dates that you enter.
Uploaded files: PDFs, documents, and images you upload for AI-powered study tools (flashcards, summaries, quizzes).
Chat messages: Conversations between you and the AI assistant, including any attached study materials.
Push notification subscription: Only if you opt in to reminders. We store a device token to send you notifications.
Basic analytics: We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics (page views, feature usage) to improve the app. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

3. How We Use Your Data

Everything we collect is used to power your personal study experience:

Running the AI chat, flashcards, summaries, quizzes, and test predictor
Sending you assignment reminders (only if you opt in to push notifications)
Remembering your classes, preferences, and study schedule across devices
Improving the app based on anonymous usage patterns

What we will never do:

Sell your data to anyone. Ever.
Show you ads or build advertising profiles
Share your information with third parties for marketing
Use your data for anything other than making Remindify work for you

4. How We Store and Protect Your Data

We take data security seriously. Here's how your data is protected:

Database: All data is stored in Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the US-East-1 region.
Encryption at rest: Chat messages are encrypted in the database using pgcrypto and Supabase Vault.
Encryption in transit: All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Data is never sent unencrypted.
Row-Level Security: Every user table in the database has Row-Level Security (RLS) enabled. This means your data is isolated to your account at the database level — even if there were a bug in our code, the database itself enforces that you can only access your own data.
Authentication: We use Google OAuth for sign-in. We never see, handle, or store your Google password.
File storage: Uploaded files are stored in Supabase Storage with per-user isolation. Each user's files are stored in their own directory.
Sessions: Authentication sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies that expire automatically.

5. AI and Your Data

When you chat with Remindify or use study tools, your messages and relevant materials are sent to AI models (Google Gemini, accessed through OpenRouter) to generate responses.

Here's what's important to know:

No training on your data. We use inference-only API calls. The AI does not learn from or retain your conversations.
No data retention by the AI provider. Once the AI generates a response, your input is not stored on their servers.
Minimal context sent. We only send what's needed for the AI to give you a useful answer — not your entire account history.

6. Who Can See Your Data

Only you. Every database query is scoped to your user ID. You cannot see other users' data, and they cannot see yours.

Access to user data is restricted to essential service operations. We do not browse, review, or analyze individual user content.
We do not share your data with any third party.

7. FERPA and Student Privacy

Remindify is a student-facing tool. Students sign up themselves and enter their own data — we do not receive student records from school systems, student information systems (SIS), or learning management systems (LMS).

We are committed to complying with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) requirements when working with schools and districts.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, in compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
If a school or district would like to enter into a formal Student Data Privacy Agreement or data use agreement, we are happy to work with you. Please reach out at the email below.
We do not use student data for targeted advertising, create advertising profiles, or sell student information under any circumstances.

8. Data Deletion

You can delete individual chats, materials, and assignments at any time from within the app. If you want your entire account and all associated data removed, email us at hello@remindify.work.

Upon a deletion request, we permanently remove:

Your profile and preferences
All classes and assignments
All chat conversations and messages
All uploaded files and study materials
Your push notification subscription

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. We typically complete deletion requests within 7 days.
